CRUEL SUMMER

Sara Dallin and Keren Woodward were best friends since the age of four.  So when it came to starting a rock band in London, England,  Sara Dallin and Keren Woodward with Siobhan Fahey completing the trio in 1981.  Keren Woodward and Siobhan Fahey were classmates at the London College of Fashion where they studied fashion journalism.  However, both ladies dropped out of college to be rock stars instead.  Originally a punk rock band, they either opened or backed up some of the biggest punk rock acts of the late 1970's while living above the studio where Steve Jones and Paul Cook (Formerly of the Sex Pistols) would record music.  They eventually landed a recording contract where they evolved from punk rock to dance music.  1982 to 1987 was their most lucrative era where their first three albums were massive successes.  London Records released their first four albums in 1983, 1984, 1986 and 1987. 
Siobhan Fahey left Bananarama in 1988 and she was replaced for only one album in 1991 by Jacquie O'Sullivan who left after promotion for the album ended.  Then Bananarama became a duet for the next five albums on the years 1993, 1995, 2001, 2005 and 2009.  London Records dropped the group in 1993 and they released their more current albums on a variety of music labels.  Siobhan Fahey rejoined Bananarama in April 2017.  Bananarama is still a trio at the time this blog entry is being written.  Bananarama continues to record music and tour to support their music at this exact moment of time.

Siobhan Fahey was still active in the music industry between 1988 to 2016.  During that period of time, she was involved with the band Shakespears Sister.  The first album was originally a solo album, but a guest musician got a progressively bigger and bigger part until Shakespears Sister essentially became a duet with Marcella Detroit in the first two albums released by London Records. The first album was released in 1989 and the second and the bands biggest success to date in 1992.  However, Siobhan Fahey's bout with depression just before a huge gig at Royal Albert's Hall ended the duet with Marcella Detroit leaving Shakespears Sister.  The remaining albums released by Shakespears Sister was essentially a solo act for Siobhan Fahey.  Shakespears Sister was put on hold when Siobhan Fahey rejoined Bananarama.
